Maker Faire Reflection

Maker Faire was a lot of fun, it was great to see how all our hard work on the game was showcased as a prototype and open to plenty of great feedback.

  • This was only the first step of the game and Maker Faire showed me that we were off to a great start, many people came around to play the game and liked it. Next time I'd like to have a more developed game and a more attractive display.
  • Other inspirational displays included the decorative flower art, neon lights display, the lock picking station, the up-cycling station( even though it was closed I liked the idea), the man of locks and the moving displays.
  • The overwhelming response from the survey were that they would play the game again but would not buy it.
  • I want to change the ai, make the setting more interesting and add more plot aspects.

Here are some pictures of the fair:

Maker Faire Table Design

Some elements of my design: boards to explain our game, a computer to show the game, additional papers related to our design process( how we made the game), the class standing behind the table holding up signs, lights to illuminate the display, and a banner to draw attention of the people.

Documentation 4

picture of Maker Faire 2012
Throughout the week I worked with Meera to finish the shield and helmet. Then I started my rough sketch on our Maker Faire Booth. I looked at many pictures of Maker Faire to get a better idea of how to design our table.

Documentation 2

Last week I worked more on the shield and helmet with Meera. We finished the shield for the most part but we are unsure how to create a plane on a bent surface. In the new week our goal is to finish them and add the nice designs/textures.

Maker Faire Documentation

This week I worked along with the design team to dimension all of our costume sketches. By measuring Archit we got ideas of the average sizes for everything. We used the inches and dimensioned the costume piece to fit the body. This way it was easy to CAD everything. The design team collaborated with the engineering team to make certain parts. I worked with Meera and so far we have made part of the shield.

Maker Faire Jobs

For our Maker Faire project I think a job as a game artist would be suitable for me. I love to draw and I don't have much experience with coding so I would feel most comfortable doing something I am familiar with. I also have experience paying attention to details, communicating my ideas, doing crafts and drawings in my free time, organizing, and leading a group of designers.
