During this week we made drawings using different techniques with lines. Some of these techniques included structural, outline, gesture, cross hatching and contour drawing. Outline drawings do not have depth.Contour drawings have a little more information. Gestural drawings are trying to show what the object is doing. Structural drawings have more value and there are different values of one color. Also in structural drawings there are more lines.

What Emotions Do Lines Communicate
In the picture above I drew a zebra because they have many lines. I think that lines communicate emotions such as calmness and business. When there are more lines the picture is more busy and when there are less the picture is cleaner. Curved lines can look more natural and straight lines can appear more neat and organized.

Myself as a Designer
I chose a picture of a pencil and paper because they are my preferred tools. I am comfortable using them to display my ideas and thoughts. In the other picture I showed a few of my memories.
My goals in this class are to become comfortable using different tools and understand how to design using specific proportions and perspectives. I would also like to use design in problem solving.

Cup Design
- When changing or enhancing the design it is important to consider factors such as comfort, safety, and the ability to use it to improve your life. In addition, it has to fulfill your needs.
- It is important to document the brainstorming process because you may come up with many ideas at once and then forget them. However, by documenting them you can keep track of them and make sure your product gets rid of all of the problems you had brainstormed. It also helps to make sure your idea does not get copied and you were the first to think of it.
- By sketching your ideas you can visualize what your final product will look like. Sketching also helps to picture the functionality of your product and it is easy to add or scratch any parts of the design.
- Some effective techniques our group used to communicate with the others include passing our engineering notebooks around so our classmates could visualize our ideas while hearing about them. Also by using descriptive adjectives as we were presenting, our audience could better understand our ideas. Some ineffective techniques our group used included not evaluating our ideas completely.

Bridge Design
- Brainstorming was helpful when solving the problem because by brainstorming our group was able to come up with a variety of designs and test them. Then we were able to determine which design was most stable and supportive to solve the problem.
- Testing helped our design because when some ideas failed others succeeded and we could put everything together and improve our designs overall.
- Some characteristics of a good team are efficiency, creativity, and a good understanding of others. In order to work well in a group you have to be open to new ideas, listen to what others have to say, and be able to compromise and come up with a good design that satisfies the whole team.
- We could have done a few things differently to improve our final product. For example, time management, if we had kept a better track of time we could have fully finished our project and got all of the people blocks inside the tunnel. Also we could have built the tunnel better and made it look more presentable without the slits poking out.
