Fling Machine Reflection

2. Multiple attempts are crucial to get accurate results.
3.There could be more trials so that the performance of the device could be more realistic because when only giving the device one chance, an unexpected malfunction can occur.
4.We could have had a stretchier rubber band or a stronger cotton ball such as a pom pom.
5. The corks at the bottom of our design served no purpose and made it bulky so we would exclude those. Also, if we knew our machine could be thrown we would not have had to make the entire slingshot. 
6. Meera and I worked very well together, eventually we were able to eliminate the ideas that seemed more risky but we wasted time testing some of our failed inventions.

Reflecting on Unit Conversion Presentation

Our purpose was to create a fun way to learn about units and measurements. As a group (Katie, Sonia, Meera, Sasha, and Diana) we decided to portray this information in a short film called "Measurement Man:The Movie" The film can be seen HERE. In this film we used a superhero with measurement powers to help get rid of the chaos between a group of scientists, architects,designers and engineers.
The superhero taught us about

  • Conversion of units in both SI and US Systems
  • How to write numbers in the SI System
  • Dimensional analysis
  • Unit prefixes
  • Rules of exponents
  • Precision versus accuracy
  • Significant figures
