Automoblox T9 Dimensional Drawing

1) How far did we get?
I almost finished the passenger base and the rubber hand sleeve.
2) What was most challenging?
It was challenging trying to revolve the rubber handsleeve around a certain axis, Also it was hard to make the star.
3)  what came easy?
It was easy to change the dimensions  to place the shape in the right place.
4) What questions do you still  have ?
I am still wondering how to revolve things around an axis that you can enter.

Geometric Constraints

With 30 toothpicks and a bunch of the candy dots we had to design a strong model shelter.
Shapes in our design included triangles because they are known as the strongest shape. 60, 30, and 120 degree angles resulted. The surface area including the base is 63in.  If inches were  10 feet. The design would need 6300 sq feet of wood. Since the area of the base was 31.5 inches the wood needed would be 3150 sq feet. All of the gumdrops are linked to at least two others. this allows our design to be strong and stable. It is simple so it serves the purpose it is needed for. After building our design we realized it looks like a teepee. However our shelter definitely was based on form follows function.

Form Follows Function Reflection

1.My design was an improvement on windshield wipers. It always annoyed me how there was a little triangle of dirt left at the bottom. So I intended to create a design with two wipers that can go 180 degrees and alternate as one goes down the middle and the other goes to the left or right.
2. My new design mostly focuses on the placement and the direction that the wipers go. In other words, the wipers look the same but they will move in a different way.
3. My design supports the requirements because it improves the original design and supports the function to the greatest extent.
4. It reminds me of my car's wipers and how I always feel the urge to wipe that little triangle of dirt at the bottom.
5. My design is similar to the original design of wipers because the design of the wipers itself doesn't change much. However my design is unique because the regular wipers do not cleean the windshield to the fullest.
6. My design could have definitely been better. The feedback really helped me see problems that I hadn't realized before. For example, my design makes the wipers go a little off the edge of the car and this can cause the wiper to be easily broken. In addition, people were wondering what would happen if the wipers were off then they had a high chance of hitting each other. These problems are ones I would take into consideration for my next design.

Ideas for the next design: I will make the wipers automatically extendable and compressable. That way the wipers wont hang off the edges.

Puzzle Cube Reflection

This puzzle design cube project was very interesting. I liked it because it is fun to try to solve other people's cubes. Also we were able to understand how to use inventor more. My favorite parts of this project were assembling the cube on inventor, putting together the actual cube with the wooden cubes, and doing isometric drawings.

Reflection Questions:
Its is important to make a prototype before your actual design because you need to test your ideas to see if they work and make sure you are happy with them. I liked my puzzle because it was relatively hard to solve but a few people were still able to solve it in the span of fifteen minutes. I wanted it to be challenging and it was. One thing I would change is that I would make more pieces that perfectly fit together because on the top of my design there is one L shaped piece which is just placed there without attachment to any other pieces.

Making the box was similar to making the cube because it had constraints such as size. However it was different to building the cube because we had a limited amount of time. My box fulfilled its purpose but it wasn't very stable.

Puzzle Documentation

First I brainstormed a few piece ideas^

 Next I used the attachable cubes to form two possible designs ^These are my isometric designs^
I decided to go with the first design here are my cake layers and the front,top, and right views of the cube. ^This design is challenging but not too hard. My aim is for people to be able to solve the puzzle before getting frustrated and giving up.  
Here Katie is putting together one of the pieces to confirm that the drawings were helpful/easy to read.
